Joan Mildred Yates (nee Essex)
Peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on Friday, October 21, 2016 in her 89th year. Loving mother of Bruce and Barbara (Joe). Cherished Grandma of Grant. Loving daughter to the late Lance & Dorothy Essex. Dear sister of the late Stella Lake, the late Mabel Axworthy and Alan Essex. Joan earned respect and admiration from all who knew her, with an unwavering honesty in her approach to life. Her strength in character, determination and perseverance, shone through and through. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humour, and gentle but feisty "can do" attitude. Joan made friends wherever she worked and was a dedicated employee of the Industrial Accident Prevention Association, CIL Paints, law office of Gordon C. Rush, City of Etobicoke Parks, and Credit Union Central of Canada. Joan's family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Grant Lum, for his guidance and compassionate support.
Visitation at Lorne Park Baptist Church, 1500 Indian Road, Mississauga on Wednesday, October 26th at 11 am. Funeral service to follow at Noon. Interment Springcreek Cemetery, Mississauga.
