Obituary for Carol Margaret Kelley (Lauer)

Carol Margaret Lauer Kelley passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Beloved mother to Maureen and Heather. Cherished mother-in-law to Olivier Pang. Dearest ‘second mother’ to Sara Kim and Glenn Roy and their families. Much-loved sister of Bill Lauer (Knoxville, TN). Dear daughter of the late Carl and Margaret Lauer and daughter-in-law of the late Lawrence and Ethel Kelley and their extended families. She had a number of enduring friendships and will be missed by many.
Carol was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Ashland, Kentucky. She attended Hollins College in Virginia. Her working career took her to Buffalo, New York and eventually to Canada where she raised her small family. She was a past volunteer at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (25 years) and supported a number of other charitable organizations.
She will forever be remembered as a kind, loving, empathetic, and caring mother and friend. Beneath her always calm exterior, she was a strong woman who provided tough but loving guidance to her children and those closest to her.
She had a vibrant spirit and caring disposition, a passion for her children and friends, who were often witness to her dry sense of humour. She had a fondness for playing cards, chocolate, a good peanut butter cookie, her morning coffee, afternoon tea, and tomatoes. Above all, she enjoyed many trips with her daughters to places near and far.
Special thanks to the staff at Walden Circle Retirement Community and Credit Valley Hospital. Friends may call at Skinner & Middlebrook Funeral Home, 128 Lakeshore Rd E., Mississauga, Ontario on Friday, March 9th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Come with a story, come with a laugh but above all, come with a smile.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca) or the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
