Obituary for Deborah Jennifer Burnett (Goodier)

Burnett, Deborah Jennifer
nee Goodier
Nov. 8, 1952 – Oct. 1, 2018
It is with much sadness we announce Deborah’s passing, Oct. 1, 2018 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in the embrace of her family. She was born to Joseph and Jennie Goodier of Maple, Ontario. Surviving her are her sons Jamie and Adam, her brother Joseph Alan Goodier (Margaret), her sister Jolene Hopwood and grandson Alex. Deborah’s son Tyler predeceased her in 1988.
Deborah’s adventuresome spirit led her to working as a nanny in several world locales where she developed many friendships. At age 52 Deborah faced the life altering challenge of paralysis resulting from a severe brain injury with considerable resourcefulness and empathy for others. When energy permitted, she worked quietly on particular causes to improve the life for others. In the past five years she faced multiple cancers and gracefully accepted she had lost the battle..
Her home for the past 12 years has been the Jean and Howard Caine apartment complex in downtown Oakville. This March of Dimes assisted living centre provided the opportunity for Deborah to live as independently as possible. She is remembered fondly by those involved with her care, by her friends, and by neighbourhood businesses for her ready smile and great sense of humour.
In memory of Deborah donations to your local Humane Society, March of Dimes Canada, or Cancer Research are suggested and would be much appreciated by the family. A very special thankyou to the caring staff at Jean and Howard Caine Complex and the palliative floor of OTM Hospital.
