Faith and generosity.

This will be the first Easter when Lidia’s family will celebrate without her physical presence.  But, we strongly believe that the Lord has chosen for Lidia to celebrate His resurrection with Him this time and that is a beautiful thought.

We have a great memory of Easter with Lidia and her family.  It happened twenty something years ago, when we had met Lidia for the first time.  My husband Andrew and Lidia’s husband, Staszek, had already known each other from doing business together, but we did not know Lidia.  We had invited both of them to our home for the Easter dinner.  When the bell rang and we opened the door they came in with the beautiful potted white lilies and a box containing a glass platter with a matching bowl that we still use at our home for the festivities. When they were passing the threshold of our house Lidia, having a big smile on her face, shouted laudly: “The Lord is risen, He is risen indeed!”  That for us was a testimony of her great faith.

Another fond memory of Lidia’s generosity was at a gathering we had with Lidia and Staszek.  During the gathering we were showing them pictures given to us which were taken by someone with Polaroid camera at Marmora, the site of the apparitions of our Lady.  During our conversation we had said to them that it would be great to have Polaroid camera and to be able to take such pictures.  The very next time we met, which was husband’s birthday (or rather Polish “name day”) we received a wrapped box containing a Polaroid camera we had wished for.  Only a woman like her could remember that “detail”.

These memories and more we will be cherished forever.

With love and appreciation,

Joanna and Andrew
